Belarus is an advanced industrial country with ambitious population, unique potential of the scientific
development institute, well qualified professionals in the vehicle manufacturing industry, electronics engineering,
chemical industry.
Аmong the CIS-states, Belarus is keeping leadership at the agricultural and vehicle manufacturing industries,
agro-industrial complex, chemical and petrochemical industries, consumer goods industry, a certain development
paths of the information and communication technology, IT-outsourcing. We have significant developments of
optical and laser devices, automation systems and high-tech area.
One of the main documents, that defines tasks, deadlines, criteria and direction in the innovation economics
section is Program for the Advancement of Industrial Complex of the Republic of Belarus before 2020, approved
by a decision of the Council of Ministers from July, 4, 2012 №622. It sets the strategic goals to increase the main
competition capacity of the industrial complex, efficient production in every industrial section and achieving a
technological breakthrough in promising industrial businesses.
The State conducts a consecutive and efficient innovation policy, sets specific tasks to achieve quality, using
portions applied and basic science.
The industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus is the established development basis of national economy,
providing economic security of the state. It builds up to 30 percent of the GDP, 90 percent of export business and
the principal amount of foreign currency inflow, provides work places to one fourth of the economically active
population.
The Ministry of Industry created holding companies, such as «Avtokompomenty», «Amkodor», «BelOMO»,
«BELAZ-HOLDING», «BelavtoMAZ», «Belstankoinstrument», «Belarusskaya metallurgicheskaya kompaniya»,
«Bobruiskagromash», «GOMSELMASH», «Horizont», «Planar», «INTEGRAL», «MTZ», « Minsky motorny zavod»,
«Mogilevliftmash», «Minsky elektrotekhnichesky zavod», «Lidselmash», CJSC «ZAO ATLANT». All of them
produce historically developed goods and worldwide well-established domestic brand names.
Looking back on the past year in accordance with the Ministry of Industry, it must be noted that many
companies fiscal year end resulted in a favourable profitability, maintaining their key competences, organized
labor of employees. In 2015 the Ministry of Industry companies have exported goods in worth over 3,24 billion
US dollars, resulting in a favorable balance from foreign trade activity in worth of 1,7 billion US dollars.
Competition on our traditional market is increasing, resulting in low purchasing power of the population. Now
is the quality of produced goods the key competitive advantage on the market. So we have to supply the whole set
of works with better warranty maintenance service and post-warranty maintenance service, deal with improving
of selling system, work of assembly factories, subjects of distribution network.
We have to work efficient every day to show results, so we could create a commercially viable innovative
industrial complex, increasing the production of quality goods up to the world standards, also increasing the
export.
The leadership of these holdings set a task to develop a long-term growth plan for companies before 2030,
what, probably, will require a readjustment of the Program for the Advancement of Industrial Complex of the
Republic of Belarus before 2020.
An important direction in modern realities of economic and political trends for the industry of the Republic
Belarus is creating conditions for a harmonic and stale development, improving its competitiveness and efficiency,
develop trade relationships with foreign partners, export promotion of industry, affording access to the merchandise
market and services market, affording an opportunity for business representatives from various countries to
assist in making business contacts, assist in conducting of negotiations for projects in joint manufactures and
cooperations.
